The 2018 football season officially opened for North Dakota State on the Teammakers practice fields Friday morning as fall camp kicked off. This promises to be a unique camp, first with 24 seniors there, it makes for an experienced unit, second with the new redshirt rule, we will be keeping an eye on all freshmen more than ever since we could see some if not all of them in four games sometime this season.
There were no notable injuries that held players out of practice today, there was a position change, Kindred senior Eric Bachmeier has moved from safety to wide receiver. Bachmeier saw limited time on the field in 2016 and 2017 at that spot, he moves to a position that frankly needs some depth. NDSU has three true freshman wide receivers getting reps (Zach Mathis, DJ Stewart and Kenneth Channelle) along with redshirt freshman Christian Watson. It’s a young group with a new position coach in Jason Ray. Something we’ll be watching over the next month.
Kolpack and I will be providing video updates for most days we are at camp. Buckle up, it’s here!
