North Dakota State will play in the FCS semifinals for an eighth straight year, after knocking off Colgate, 35-0.
It was a day where the game seemed secondary to some fans, as speculation continues to swirl around head coach Chris Klieman, who confirmed after the game that he has been contacted by Kansas State, but has not been offered the job. Klieman added that six to seven other guys had been contacted as well, he said he wasn’t aware of speaking with Kansas State again. He went to say he wouldn’t know if he would take the job if offered.
Klieman’s team played like a machine Saturday afternoon in advancing on. Easton Stick was 14 of 19 for 205 yards and three touchdowns including two second half scoring tosses. Bruce Anderson ran for 124 yards and added a score on a day where the Bison offense finally wore down Colgate’s top ranked defense.
The Bison defense pitched its first shutout of the season and first in the playoffs since they played another Patriot League team, Lehigh, back in the 2011 quarterfinals.
NDSU has earned a date with South Dakota State in the semifinals, it will be the fourth playoff meeting between the teams, all of the previous games in Fargo and NDSU winning them all.
Mike McFeely, Jeff Kolpack, Eric Peterson and Dom Izzo recap the game and discuss the latest with Klieman in the postgame show.
