North Dakota State opened the first of fifteen practices inside the Dacotah Field bubble Wednesday morning as nearly an entirely new coaching staff and many new faces practiced for the first time.
Matt Entz has a monster decision to make before NDSU plays its first game and that’s who’s going to quarterback the Bison? Four men are vying for the spot, Trey Lance, Zeb Noland, Holden Hotchkiss and Noah Sanders. Entz said Tuesday he wants each of the quarterbacks to get the same amount of reps during the spring.
There are some other position battles worth watching this month, from offensive line, namely center to the other starting linebackers around Jabril Cox. We may not get definitive answers this spring, but at least a clue may be obtained.
On the injury front, sophomore Christian Watson will not be practicing. He’s been sidelined after surgery to repair torn cartilage in the same knee he injured during his freshman year. His return is questionable at the end of the spring. Junior offensive lineman Cordell Volson is likely out for the month as well as he recovers from offseason surgery.
